I carry a knife everyday. I can’t tell you how many times I have used it for little things I would need another tool for like a screwdriver, hammer, pen, needle or pick, scissors, etc.
From a quick scroll on that site, everyone DOES carry a knife, or wants us to think so. Shit, I guess I need a knife now for my suburban existence. Never know when I’ll have to Macgyver a fucking smoke bomb out of a Dr Pepper and some dry ice or some shit.
I mean, I carry my Leatherman Wave with me everywhere. But that’s more like a screwdriver and pliers that just happens to also be a knife.
Or open a letter, or a box, or cut a piece of tape instead of ripping it, or open a blister pack, open anything more elegantly than just ripping through it like an American, cut the tags out of your girlfriends shirt for her, stab someone, open a bottle, open a can, fix a small screw, cut a piece of rope, cut your food, fix a splinter, fix a haircut, etc, etc, etc.
I have been doing EDC unknowingly since college. I always have a knife, my phone, my wallet, chapstick, keys, USB drive and a handkerchief with me. I’m looking into a small and lightweight flashlight to add to my carry but it has to be right. It has to fit into my pockets without adding any visual bulk or physical feel. I don’t get all tactical with the stuff I carry, just practical.
